A question about writing

Validity and veracity

What distinguishes journalism...?

All research and informative writing is only as good as the source and objectivity of the writer. This is particularly true in journalism - often called the Fourth estate or branch of government- which should bet sources for integrity and present ideas without bias.

Neither, however, is perfect. It is impossible to completely remove one’s bias . So in an attempt to correct for this journalists had typically (although to great detriment not so much anymore) used the two source corroboration test: find two completely different sources from two completely different views, fields, perspectives, etc. that tell the same story.

This method prevents a journalist from only selecting the one source that confirms their bias and also checks the story for integrating by providing corroboration.
